Courage to blog

The dream of writing a blog has been in me for a very long time.

On the one hand, I love writing and on the other, I think I know a bit about dogs and their people. But until now I haven't had the courage. As is so incredibly typical for a woman, I constantly question myself and have a lot of self-doubt. Am I really writing well enough (and yes - I'm writing this without AI)? Is what I want to say interesting enough for someone to want to read it? Doesn't everyone else have much more knowledge and is more competent than me?

Today is the day when I simply leave this comfort zone, pluck up the courage and start my own blog. Of course, the main topic will be dogs and their people, peppered with stories, advice, socially critical aspects and experiences. It will be a personal journey with insights into my story(s), thoughts and my world.

I have deliberately refrained from using genders so that it remains easy to read.

Why dogs at all? When I was four years old, I was bitten on the face by a dachshund and knew immediately that I shouldn't have done what I had just done. I had tried to steal the dachshund's bone, which definitely didn't go down very well with the furry friend. At that time, it was still the case that one had a quick look to see if anything needed stitching and that was that. Little Dachshund had behaved very nicely and my face had only bled a little. My mum (who is really scared of dogs) came to me in horror and was about to make a huge fuss when I tearfully confessed to her that it had been my fault and that the dog shouldn't be scolded.

Everyone who knows me knows that this incident didn't stop me from continuing my incredibly deep love of dogs. On the contrary: I was almost obsessed with learning how dogs work, understanding why they really bite (and it's never their fault) and learning how to deal with dogs in a positive, fair and friendly way.

I hope you enjoy reading this blog.

Yours sincerely Mumi
